Spring Fragrance Tips From Victoria’s Secret

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

victorias-secret-very-sexy-perfumeWe all know that fashion and beauty looks change from season to season, but should your fragrance change with your look?

Bella Sugar spoke with Victoria’s Secret fragrance expert Mark Knitowski about trends for spring scents. He said your fragrance doesn’t have to change with the season. Knitowski told readers to wear a scent as long as you feel comfortable. Although he did say that heavy, bold perfumes usually aren’t spring friendly.

So what is friendly for the warm seasons? Think about nature to get your inspiration. With plants in bloom in spring, Knitowski says trends are “green, watery, citrus-type of notes, especially for the spring season, combined with fresh florals.” Think about light scents for spring. He also mentions that you can find citrus and floral musks if something bolder is your style.

The new spring Victoria’s Secret fragrances are the light Heavenly Flowers (in stores in April) and Very Sexy Now (in stores now).

Hair Fragrances Become More Popular

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

According to the New York Times, hair fragrances are becoming more and more popular.  New hair fragrances are regularly being released and women seem to be responding to the new trend.  We at Real Style Network have tried several hair fragrances and in many cases, we were impressed with the results.  See below for three of our favourites.

angelhair1The very popular Aquolina Pink Sugar perfume has its own Pink Sugar Hair Perfume ($15).  A sweet and fun scent, it blends vanilla and caramel together to remind you of childhood memories and cotton candy.  Fragrance notes include Sicilian orange, raspberry, cotton candy, vanilla, caramel and musk.  Keep in mind, this hair perfume is quite popular and regularly sells out!

The classic fragrance Angel by Thierry Mugler has the Angel Hair Mist by Thierry Mugler ($35).  It seduces with passionate notes like honey, dewberry, vanilla, patchouli and chocolate.  This hair fragrance is long lasting and has a stronger scent than many others.  Perfect for a club night or long evening out.

Clean Hair Fragrance by Fusion Brands ($39) is for those of you that don’t like traditional fragrances, but appreciate clean and soapy scents that smell like you just got out of the shower.  A couple of sprays and your hair smells fresh all day.  Perfect for everyday wear and great in the summertime.

Halle Berry Launches Second Fragrance

Monday, January 11th, 2010

In today’s beauty news, actress Halle Berry has just released her second fragrance titled Pure Orchid.

pureorchidThe floral, woody scent features notes of jungle cactus flower, lemon, blackberry creme, star anise, masdevallia orchid, giant sequoia and patchouli.  Currently, the new fragrance is available only at Wal-Mart.  Does this seem odd to you?  We always envisioned products by Hollywood top actresses to be featured at high-end department stores like Barneys and Sephora, not necessarily Wal-Mart.  We assume the idea is to appeal and sell to mass market and potentially make more money.  If you’re interested, Halle Berry Pure Orchid is available in Eau de Parfum (15 ml) for approx $16.

In other fragrance news, 2010 will mark the launch of many celebrity fragrances including scents by Rihanna, Kanye West, singer Fergie, Eva Longoria, Sean John, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, another fragrance by Jennifer Lopez titled Blue Glow by JLO and another fragrance by  Sarah Jessica Parker called SJP NYC.
